Austria’s first-ever professional on the World Snooker Tour, Florian Nüßle, suffered a 2-5 defeat in his debut at the top level of international snooker against former World Championship runner-up Ali Carter of England. The match featured several tightly contested frames, which the Salzburg-based player unfortunately couldn’t convert in his favor.

With eight National Championship titles and more than 30 Grand Prix victories, Nüßle is the most successful Snooker player in Austrian history. However, this loss means he will not feature in the main draw of the Wuhan Open, scheduled for August 24 to 30 on the WST calendar.

Nevertheless, the next opportunity is already at hand. On June 26 at 11:00 a.m. CEST, Nüßle will face China’s Si Xu at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester in the British Open Qualifiers, aiming for a spot in the main event taking place from September 22 to 28 in Cheltenham.
