Following the recent win of his Main Tour ticket – which grants 23-year-old Austrian Florian Nüßle a two-year license to compete in the professional circuit of the global Snooker elite – the action continued right away in Sheffield, England, with the qualifying rounds for the upcoming WST Snooker World Championship.
In the first round, the multiple national champion faced Welsh player Duane Jones and, after a shaky start, delivered a close and thrilling match that went all the way to the final frame. In the end, it was the Brit who edged the decider with a 10:9 victory.
While Nüßle will therefore not compete at the WST World Championship in Sheffield’s iconic Crucible Theatre, his recently earned professional status – secured in Antalya – ensures that the first-ever Austrian Snooker pro will be making regular appearances at the highest international level in the months and years to come.
