Austria’s first professional snooker player, Florian Nüßle, has made his mark on the big stage by securing his first match victory since qualifying for the World Snooker Tour.
As part of the Championship League Snooker, which begins with group-stage play, the reigning Austrian national champion defeated Ukrainian Iulian Boiko 3–1. However, he lost to England’s Robbie Williams (0–3) and Ben Woollaston (1–3), placing him third in the group and resulting in his elimination from the tournament, which was held at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
Now, the first major highlight of the still-young season awaits the 23-year-old former amateur world champion: the highly lucrative Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in Jeddah.
