England’s Dave Causier continued his impressive winning streak at the British Open in Torquay, taking a convincing 675-257 victory in the final against Peter Gilchrist, who represents Singapore.
Roughly one month after successfully defending his world title, the world’s most dominant Billiards player once again proved to be the benchmark. With the tournament’s highest break of 285, Causier also underlined his superiority in this category.
Carl Walter Steiner was unable to record a match win this time, losing all his group-stage encounters in the extremely strong Group F. Alongside multiple former English Amateur Champion Martin Goodwill, the group included only English players ranked inside the world’s top 100: Barry Russell, Adam Clarke and Chris Taylor.

Steiner, who drops two places to No. 45 in the new WBL ranking, remains Austria’s top-ranked player. Also listed in the world rankings are current Austrian Matchplay Champion Patrick Stegmeier (No. 91) and multiple National Champion Martin Schmidt (No. 95).
Following the 2025 season finale in Torquay, World Billiards will start the new calendar year with the UK Championship, to be held from 23–25 January at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall.
