Garry Balter (15 Reds, Vienna) is the well-deserved winner of the Masters/Seniors overall ranking in the Austrian Snooker League (ASL) 2025. After five tournament victories in five appearances, Balter remains unbeaten this season.
It certainly underscores an athlete’s dominance in impressive fashion when they go through an entire season without suffering a single defeat. Garry Balter was unable to compete in the first event of the season, but the experienced player and multiple-time Austrian champion went on to win all 25 matches in the five subsequent tournaments, dropping only 9 frames throughout the season.
Balter’s main rival for the top spot, Christian Hochmayer (FBC, Vienna), also put together an impressive run, finishing every tournament in 2025 on the podium. However, his third-place finish at the season finale at TSG in Graz was ultimately only enough to secure second place in the final rankings.
Hans Nirnberger (SCAH, Heidenreichstein/Lower Austria) secured third place in the final stretch of the season by finishing second at the season finale, thereby pushing Bernhard Wallner (15 Reds) off the podium in the rankings. Rounding out the Top 5 is Gunter Kulle (KSC, Gerasdorf/Lower Austria), who, after a consistent season and his first-ever appearance in the semifinals of an ASL Masters tournament, has now positioned himself among the extended circle of medal contenders for the upcoming Austrian Championship.
Michael Peyr from the hosting club Top Snooker Graz (TSG) served as tournament director at the season finale, which featured a total of 24 athletes.
The highest break of the tournament was achieved by Christian Hochmayer with 55 points, while the highest break of the season — 77 points — goes to Garry Balter, who now enters the upcoming championship as the clear favorite.
For the first time, this year’s Masters Austrian Championship will begin with a preliminary round event, which will take place on November 15 & 16 at the National Snooker & Billiards Academy in Vienna, with a maximum of 32 participants.
The four semifinalists from this event will then compete in January 2026 at the ÖSBV Finals, where all medal decisions for the 2025 ÖSBV Championships will be played out over one weekend, also at the BLZ Vienna.
