In his first season as a professional on the World Snooker Tour, eight-time Austrian national Snooker champion Florian Nüßle is still waiting for his first match win in a qualifier for a WST ranking tournament.

In Leicester, England, the former U21 amateur world champion narrowly lost in a deciding frame to current world number 19, China’s Wu Yize, after impressively coming back from 0-3 and 2-4 down. As a result, he missed out on qualification for the 2025 Xi’an Grand Prix in early October.

The second qualifier of the week, also held at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, was for a place in the main draw of the 2025 Northern Ireland Open. Unfortunately, Nüßle suffered another first-round defeat. A 2-4 loss to Belgium’s Julien Leclercq means that Austria’s first professional Snooker player will not be appearing in Belfast at the end of October.

Nüßle will be back in action on September 11, 2025, at the BetVictor English Open in Brentwood, where he’s scheduled to face Hong Kong’s Wang Yucheng at 2 p.m. local time (3 p.m. CEST).

Later in the month, he’ll head to Leicester for the International Championship 2025 Qualifiers, his next chance to book a spot in a WST main event.
