Former professional Peter Lines from England once again brings a well-known name to the top of the podium at this year’s Q Tour Europe Event 2 in Vienna. He defeated his fellow countryman Peter Devlin in the final with a 4-3 victory in a deciding frame.

WPBSA Report

On the final day, Peter Lines managed to win all three of his matches – against Oliver Sykes, George Pragnell (both from England), and finally Peter Devlin – each time in a deciding frame. Meanwhile, Peter Devlin reached the final after a narrow 4-3 win over fellow countryman Mark Lloyd in the semifinal, followed by a comfortable 4-0 victory against Ashley Hugill (ENG).

In total, around 30 century breaks were made during the event, with Mark Joyce (ENG) delivering the highest break of the tournament — an impressive 141 point2.

Among the 117 participants from 28 countries, there were also eight local athletes representing the Austrian Billiards & Snooker Association (ÖSBV) in the National Snooker & Billiards Academy in Vienna. However, all of them were defeated by their opponents in the first round.

The results clearly demonstrated the high benchmark set at competitions on this international level. These outcomes can now be used to identify areas for improvement, close the gap to the international competition, and unlock further potential.

A special highlight was the excellent collaboration with international referees. In addition to top Austrian officials – including Carl Walter Steiner, who had the honor of officiating this year’s final – the referee team also featured guests from Hungary and Sweden. This international lineup helped ensure a smooth and professional tournament under the direction of WPBSA Tournament Director James Chambers and WPBSA Media Officer Ryan Watterson.

Also deserving special mention is the valuable support of all volunteers, whose dedication ensured that all athletes felt well looked after throughout the event. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Renate Skoda, Thomas Bernt, Andreas Kosić, Wolfgang Pöll and Martin Schmidt for their commitment and hard work.

A final word of thanks from the ÖSBV board, led by President Christian Fock and Sports Director Patrick Stegmeier, goes to the HSEBC and its president Philipp Koch for their excellent and essential cooperation in organizing and running the event.
